  • Product Description

Bear-Grip Adhesive comes in pellets in a meltable bag. It will stick to most surfaces including plastic, metal and wood. After rolling down the print, you will immediately receive a permanent bond. For large prints use silicone release paper to keep the print from sticking while lining it up. Save the release paper and use it as many times as needed. The maximum width is 24”, but the length is unlimited. Perfect for Banners! Also great for mounting wide format inkjet prints to boards (displays, posters, signage), presentations, photo books (one of the main uses), puzzles, board games, book covers, labels, trading cards and more! Each unit is tested prior to shipping - small amount of glue in machine.

    1. In order to run material through, it must be flexible. Cannot be rigid.  Can run heavy cover stock as long as it is flexible. (24 pt would not be an issue)

    2. Speed:   with Beargrip high tack adhesive- 4 seconds per ft.   with RP adhesive: 5 seconds per ft.  (RP is more viscous so we need more torque).

    3. When switching from one glue to another, just need to clean out tray, not the roller.

    4. You do not lose any glue when turn off then on.

    5. To clean outside covers, something like WD40 / lacquer thinner will work (GVD accepts no responsibility for use of these products under any circumstance whatsoever).

    6. Average lifetime of machine is from 10 to 15 years.

    7. Warm up time is 55 minutes

What substrates is the Beargrip high tack designed to adhere to? Just about anything (will adhere to lamination such as platinum™/ultragrip™/polyester base films, etc.). One of the major uses for it is photobook covers.

    Differences between RP & Beargrip:

    •             After coating media, RP cures out over time, while Beargrip never loses its tack

    •             When positioning your media on the substrate, RP is more forgiving than Beargrip so it is easier to position the media on the substrate.

    •             When adhering two flexible items back to back, RP provides a stiffer bond.

    •             Due to the fact RP cures, when trimming, RP adhesive will not transfer to the cutting blade, while Beargrip will since it is a PSA.

    •             For doing bookcovers, you should use Beargrip, not RP, since Beargrip is more aggressive when turning the cover material over the edge of the chip board.

Approximate cost per square foot is $0.25 for both RP & Beargrip high tack (compared to about $0.47 for double sided mounting adhesive)
